Ok, so I picked up your paper in front of Marshall’s yesterday and was looking through it. I read the “letter from the editor” about your Gap experience and I had to write you a note. My first job was at Foot Locker. If that wasn’t bad enough, we had to wear referee uniforms and sell shoes. I also remember the day I got “promoted” to the register. That was a big day! But, what made me giggle so much is that my individuality was busting out of the seams of that referee outfit, even at 15. You see, our uniform included wearing these god awful black reebok hi-tops. I decided that RED converse hi-tops were much more suitable and wore those instead. I even had all my friends sign my shoes for a little extra pizzazz! My manager told me that if I showed up again with the red Converse hi-tops on (that I bought at a discount) that he would have to fire me. If you knew me at all, you would know what would happen. The next day, I was fired. Shocker. This, as insignificant as it may seem, was the first step (in red Converse hi-tops) on the road to becoming the real and true Janet McCarty. My only regret is that I don’t still have those shoes. Best of luck with “Skirt” and with living life with no regrets and being who you really are, shoes and all!

In the February 2008 Houston Skirt, on page 9, you picked a domino necklace with the quote, “Unique and stylish, simply give domino bling”. Can you please tell me where I can purchase this necklace? I couldn’t find anything in the whole publication about it. By the way, I think Skirt is the best Houston publication! I can’t wait to get it each month and devour each page.

So...it's a good time to be a woman. But what drives Elisea Tantuan Frishberg? It's one thing to pick a direction- it's another thing to blast through the speed limit signs at 200 MPH. I've seen you in action. So...how do you choose your direction? And what fuels your fire?

Love the magazine and have been reading it religiously. I adore fashion! I also get to interview celebrities on a regular basis, so perhaps you could do something on celebrity style.

I just want to send a quick note and tell you how much I enjoy your publication. I stumbled upon skirt!Houston on a trip to CVS. In addition to the features, I love that it is a truly diverse magazine for all women. I am an author of two novels (Sunday Brunch & Sweet Magnolia), so of course I love to read! I'm always looking for something new and different. Thank you for a unique, informative and entertaining publication!

I have picked up your magazine a number of times in recent months. I think it's just fantastic. I love the articles, the art and the entire look of the publication. I can read it over and over again. Plus, the website is actually on my favorites. It just makes me smile.

Woodja Flanigan—what perfect timing! I've noticed Mr. Flanigan's advertisements in different places and been curious about who he is, what he is like, what is his therapeutic style? His name is so different and interesting....and here he is in my favorite magazine and wearing a skirt [He’s So Original, February 2008]! It feels great to know there is someone out there who helps those of us who are wonderfully different. I know he would understand a magnet on my refrigerator that says "you laugh at me because I am different; I laugh at you because you are the same." It's a very comforting thought.

The February cover was so pretty and girlie! I had to cut the picture out and, maybe, some day I will frame it…I picked up the February issue at the Randall’s at Sage and San Felipe. One of the men who works there saw skirt! in my shopping cart and commented on what a great publication it is. He told me he reads it too! He said he'd like to appear in skirt! wearing a Scottish kilt—that's when I noticed the accent.

I picked up skirt! recently and was pleasantly surprised with its overall content. I reside in the Houston area and there needs to be more media, like skirt!, which inspires and motivates women to be all that they can be and reach for the stars.

I've been traveling to Houston from Dallas since September 2007 to take care of my Mom, a cancer patient at MD Anderson. The best part of this whole ordeal has been re-connecting with my Mom, visiting my friend Tracy and discovering skirt! Keep up the fresh and entertaining product...and bring it to Dallas as soon as you can!
