To Bacon or Not to Bacon

Thursday, March, 6, 2008

That is the question.

I startled my brain the other night with a thought, “Boy, it would be nice to have a beer or a glass of wine, I’m in the mood for a beer or a glass of wine—that sounds really good!  Maybe even a hamburger, a nice juicy hamburger with bacon and cheese—yes that sounds fantastic!  Why not, just a little bit will not hurt me, life is short, I want to enjoy myself!”

What did I learn from this?

My brain is a powerful thing, because what it wants, it gets!  So I decided to use my powers for good.

Don’t tell your brain what you are afraid will happen, tell it what you want to happen.  Your conscience will accept everything that you say to it, why not tell it how beautiful, smart, and in control you are.

The thing is, I have been getting up at 4am every morning, to run--to get in great shape because my doctor told me point blank that if I did not shape up, I would be dead a lot sooner than later and I would not be able to see the fruits of my labor and will never see my grand children.

I decided that it was time to make some changes.  I have been running and working out on a daily basis.  Trust me, I was always the type of person who would sit for days waiting for the nearest parking spot to save myself from walking a few more steps to buy groceries or to see a movie. Exercise was not in my vocabulary, until now. I had to force myself.  For months, I was training, waking up at 5 in the morning to run and walk, eating better, making better choices.  I completed my first marathon last month.  And it felt GREAAAAT! J

I decided that it was all a matter of choice.  I want to be the guardian of my health.  I have given up rice—RICE!  I practically was born with a spoonful of rice in my mouth, I have learned to eat smarter and I have definitely learned that when asking myself, “To Bacon, or not to Bacon,” knowing that there’s a second choice makes all the difference!

“The veggie burger from Beck’s Prime ain’t so bad.” ;)

Being fabulous is all in your head, keep feeding your brain!

I have known Elisea for just under 1 year. She is hilarious and sees no obstacles, only fun challenges. When I need a little inspiration, I run by and ask her to rub the top of my head. Keep on rockin' girl! Ginger

I have been studying this very thing for years now, and you're right; the mind is a very powerful thing - like it or not. I think we could all learn a lesson from Henry Ford: "If you think you can, or if you think you can't, either way, you're right". Thanks Elisea!

When I first met Elisea, she was speaking at an Asian Chamber of Commerce Luncheon in the Galleria. It sounds silly, but in the first 5 minutes I thought, “This woman will make the world a better place.” Its all about fear and love… Thank you for being a part of skirt! ~dusty

I have known Elisea for 4 years and everything she has set her mind to do she has achieved and mastered. She has taught me that when you set your mind there are no obstacles. Thanks Elisea for being YOU! -Gen

My favorite line from this blog was, "Don’t tell your brain what you are afraid will happen, tell it what you want to happen." This is really amazing advice for anyone, not just women, because it promotes success and productivity. I've personally seen Elisea work on a million things at once, and she never stops until every mission is completed. She won't take "no" for an answer, and that's what everyone loves about her. Great read, hope to see more! :)
