Take a Batting Stance

Monday, March, 17, 2008

Your “batting stance” is your mental posture.  It is how skilled you are at replacing your natural fear with positive expectations.  Batting stance skill develops as you desensitize yourself from the group.  Most people spend a lot of their time thinking about what other people think of them and their status in the group.  Instead of focusing on what they are doing, they are concerned with what their children, employees, and customers think about them.

Don’t regurgitate back to people what they think, give them something new to chew on.  When you give a group the power to decide your success or failure, you lose your mental posture and succumb to fear.  People buy authenticity, not plasticity.

Part of living in the present is taking in information without an agenda.  Put a filter on what you already believe.  Are certain types of providers only useful for one thing?  Are you sure?  What are you dismissing because of your past experience?  What are you too ready to accept?  What are you blind to and what do you see everywhere you go?

Transform yourself everyday and embrace a changing world.  Be a sponge, wave around and let everything be attracted to you.  Open-minded reception of information leads to new ideas, opportunities and relationships.
