“We are a very happy store,” explains Patty. “When we were young, my sister and I would set up and play ‘store.’ I never got it out of my system!” With six siblings as best friends, an artistic mother as inspiration and a taste for retail since the elementary years, this third generation native Houstonian has used her blend of creativity, love and passion for life to create Pattywhacks, a hip and welcoming shop on Sunset Blvd. “When my sister and I started the store on a whim, I wanted to show my daughters that action makes your dreams come true. I hope that I am an inspiration to them, like they are to me,” she confesses. “This business is not that easy…you have to love it!” And, the truth is—she does, and it shows. In fact, she wouldn’t trade her piece of retail bliss for anything…except for the voice of Janis Joplin, of course!
