In on ocean full of mega-malls, fast food joints and corporate everything, Houston has a friendly neighborhood hang-out where “everyone knows your name.” And, at the heart of it all is Roger Aggoun, the owner of the The King Biscuit Patio Café. Always prime to greet, Roger’s friendly French/Algerian accent, eclectic American/Mediterranean menu, love of people, and culturally rich background brings “The Biscuit” to a new level. Growing up in Algeria during their fight for independence, he simply loves his life and his restaurant because no matter what struggle ensues, comparatively everything is “gravy.” Once a fifth grade teacher, he has thrown in the books for his culinary castle, which hosts live jazz jam sessions every Tuesday night. A writer and radio voiceover personality as well, this avid reader and soccer player aspires to be the Next Food Network Star and learn to play the guitar someday.
