Tonshea Yvonne Carroll is on a style mission.

Pregnant and fabulous, Tonshea loves her work as a fashion designer because, “I see so many fashion tragedies. I really want to help people have a sense of style in their life.” Designing clothes since the age of eight, Tonshea first showcased her work on a collection of 100 Barbies. Now she’s the lead designer in her own self-titled collection and the owner of the new High Society Boutique in Rice Village, which features clothing that runs the gamut from daywear to custom swimwear. “Many people are frustrated with design in that there is no outlet for their size and age,” says Tonshea, adding that her fall 2007 collection “was created with a more sophisticated look.” The boutique will carry sizes up to 18. Additionally, all the runway fashions can be custom made for any client. With girly and flirty as a general theme, she describes her designs as “classic 50’s silhouettes with a modern twist.”
