Stand on Your Own!

One thing that has made me infinitely more independent and strong is my understanding of loneliness. In a city like Houston with a growing population of over 5 million people, it seems strange that anyone could be lonely. Yet, so many people are. Especially among women, overcoming loneliness is a serious and considerable cause. I think we should be able to express ourselves without fear of being “wrong” or “right,” because everyone’s feelings matter. However, the next step is to sort out those feelings and move on.
The first thing I realized about my loneliness was that I didn’t know how to communicate effectively. I would beat around the bush trying to avoid hurting people’s feelings, but I often just ended up misunderstood. Because of this, I frequently felt alone and like no one was on my side. Second, I learned that I needed to effectively communicate not only with those around me, but also with myself. I found that I needed to be focused and clear regarding what I was trying to accomplish in order to successfully convey my thoughts and be in harmony with myself. Once I figured this out, it seemed like common sense! How did I expect others to be on the same page as me when I couldn’t even sell ideas to myself? By being clear with myself and constantly repeating my goals in my head, I discovered congruence and unity. Finally, I was back on track. ☺
Since I have found so much success, stability, and happiness through my own experiences, I urge anyone who is feeling lonely to call or email me. I’d love to speak with you and help you learn stand on your own like I have!
