The Golden Ball
If you were a homeless, unemployed Korean woman fleeing your abusive husband, who would you turn to? If you were a depressed, 78-year-old lonely widower with no English skills, where would you go? If you were a Chinese mother with a suicidal 13-year-old suffering from a debilitating injury as a result of a drunk driver and needed legal help, who would you ask? If you were a 16 year old Indian teen who has resorted to self-mutilation, who can help you find answers to your pain? Before 1994, there were few answers and even fewer resources. But today, Asian American Family Services, (formerly Asian American Family Counseling Center) has been meeting these needs with bilingual and bicultural mental health and social services. Tonight, support the nationally-recognized programs serve over 2,000 individuals and families each year by attending The Golden Ball at Hotel ZaZa.
